Core concepts

Trial and license state

The app runs under a signed, expiring license. A new account starts on a trial; a paid plan replaces it. The license drives one of three states: valid (full access), grace (a warning window near expiry), or lapsed (read-only until renewed).

A lapse never blocks reads and never alters data: only new writes are held until you apply a renewal, which restores full access. The banner shows the current state, type, and days remaining. See *Check and renew the license*.

Account and billing (hosted)

On the hosted service an account admin manages the whole lifecycle from the Account & billing area: change plan (upgrade or downgrade), cancel (a paid plan cancels at period end, a trial locks to read-only, and your data is always kept), export all your data, and delete the account as a reversible soft delete you can restore within a window. A locked, canceled, or soft-deleted in-window account can be reactivated. The permanent purge is a separate, confirmed operator action and is never automatic.
