How to set up a derived amount

A derived amount is computed from another flow: a rebate that is a percentage of a customer's sales, a commission, a tax accrual.

1. On a definition, set the amount method to derived.
2. Choose the basis: the party or bucket whose flow drives it, and the direction of that flow.
3. Set the rate (for example 0.05 for 5%).
4. Set the lag: how many periods after the basis the derived amount is paid (1 = one month in arrears; 0 = the same period).
5. Generate, and the derived occurrences track the basis automatically.

The mid-market *Volume rebate* and the enterprise *Sales commission* are both derived definitions you can inspect in the demos.
